Teens on TikTok discover abandoned suitcase stuffed with human remains on Seattle beach
A US teenager said he is “traumatised” after finding a suitcase stuffed with human remains on a Seattle beach.
The chilling discovering was captured on TikTok after a group of young people stumbled across the suitcase which had washed ashore near the popular tourist attraction Pike’s Place Market on Friday.
A second bag was later was found floating in the water, the Seattle Police Department said in a press release.
The video posted to social media shows the group of friends stumbling across the abandoned suitcase, joking that is may contain money.
A young girl is seen climbing across the rocks of the beach to see what could be inside and laughing before realising what was inside.
“Something traumatic happened that changed my life,” TikTok user UghHenry writes in the caption of the video, which was posted on Saturday morning along with the hashtags #crime #murder and #washington.
“We found this black suitcase. We were joking that maybe the suitcase would have money…[But] the smell was overwhelming.
The video shows a girl walking over to the suitcase and yelling, “Open it! It stinks, yo!”
She then uses a stick to peer into the luggage, which contains a black plastic bag, looking fearfully at the camera.
After opening it, a second girl is shown in footage calling police, a caption of the video states.
The teens later returned to the beach to film the crime scene.
Seattle Police Department confirmed the discovery later that evening
“Police responded after receiving a call of a suspicious bag on the beach. Another bag was located in the water,” a news release read.
“Once the contents were determined to be remains, detectives responded to begin their investigation.”
