WASCOTT, Wis. — Seven women have filed a civil suit against a Wascott man for misleading photographs and comments he allegedly posted on FetLife, a social media website for people who engage in unconventional sexual preferences.
The suit against Jay E. Link, owner of Link’s Wild Safaris, was filed July 15 in Douglas County Circuit Court by the Washburn firm of Spears, Carlson and Coleman.
According to the 25-page complaint, photos of the women were posted to the site by a user with the profile name “Sexsafari.” All but one were identified in the caption as “sluts” who had engaged in sex with him. The women’s first names or nicknames were used and their faces were visible.
“Sexsafari,” whom the complaint identifies as Link, wrote that some of the women had been sexually trained by him and that one had been bred by him twice. Of the unnamed women listed in the complaint, one is a former employee of Link’s, one met him at a trade show and another has never met Link.
All but one of the women were acquaintances and Facebook friends with Link.
In each of the postings in question, photos from the women’s own Facebook accounts were used. In one case, additional photos from another source showing female genitalia were posted and captioned as if they belonged to the woman being discussed.
According to the complaint, the profile belonging to “Sexsafari” posted more than 1,000 photos to FetLife between February 2017 and February 2019.
Each of the seven women are claiming Link’s actions amount to invasion of privacy, intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligent infliction of emotional distress and defamation. Two said the posts could damage their current or future employment options; one said she had missed days of work due to the stress the posts caused.
The women are also seeking punitive damages.
Link has 45 days to respond to the complaint.
